Hunger relief is one of the vital, ongoing relief ministries of Catholic Charities.
Many people these day are experiencing extraordinary challenges, including hardships likely to persist for months and even years for our neighbors who have lost income. Our goal is to ensure that nobody goes hungry.
Loaves and Fishes at Holy Name Strobel Hall has not missed serving a meal throughout the pandemic. And thanks to a little creativity and some wonderful partnerships, we have helped 50 percent more people this past year – 25,000 – across multiple locations.
Our Hunger Relief programs are growing to meet the community’s needs. A few examples include:
Opportunities are available most days of the week to pick up food boxes at Catholic Pastoral Center, McGruder, South Nashville, and Holy Name Strobel Hall.
Please call first to make an appointment.
Catholic Charities has partnerships with local restaurants and other nonprofits to provide ready-to-eat meals in portable containers.
We provide hot meals for individuals and families every Thursday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Community (14544 Lebanon Rd, Old Hickory, TN 37138). Please pull up, and we will bring the food to your car. There is no proof or criteria necessary to receive a meal!
Catholic Charities is in touch with many Middle Tennessee neighbors who need help with food, and we are looking for new partnership opportunities. Please call if you can help us expand our program.
Strengthening these and other Hunger Relief programs enables recipients to focus on paying for rent, utilities, and other essentials.
